Getting to Real.

Our observation is that many business leaders often do not spend the necessary time to truly understand their business. They don't look at it hard enough and most don't analyze the fundamental components that determine success or failure of their business model: market environment; financial targets; internal activities and capabilities.

Here are 10 questions to ask in " getting to real ":

  • Where is the business now?
  • Where do you want the business to go?
  • What are you going to sell that's different?
  • Who are your target customers?
  • Where is the market headed? What factors are shaping it?
  • Who is the competition? Where do you fit?
  • How can you beat or avoid competition?
  • What is the current capability to reach your goals?
  • What do you need to change?
  • When does change need to happen?

21 st Century Maxims

According to global HR outsourcing and consulting firm Hewitt Associates the following maxims will drive 21 st century business success:

  • Companies must innovate to excel. New products, services and innovative programs are mandatory.
  • Knowledge matters. The training and development of people will be the most important role of any HR function.
  • Employment as we know it will disappear. In 10 years, 80% of all job functions will be obsolete and telecommuting employees will grow to 100million.
  • Loyalty will continue to erode. The workforce will become more contingent. "Me, Inc." will be the prevailing attitude.
  • Organizations will become a network of partnerships. Companies can't do it all themselves in today's speed and technology-intensive world.
  • Nothing will be certain but uncertainty.
