Successfully expanded market penetration via strategic repositioning

Facing increasing insurance reimbursement reduction pressures coupled with high levels of non-reimbursement delivery of hospital services to a diverse population, St. Helena Hospital (part of the Adventist Health Network) chose to initiate a repositioning of its traditional, yet narrowly focused wellness services as a vehicle for achieving improved profitability. Together with hospital management and staff, beginning with the development and implementation of primary research, The Browning Group facilitated new strategies and programs to position and expand the wellness services of this quality Napa Valley institution from a single focus "addiction rehab" orientation to an expanded "holistic health center" with a variety of lifestyle improvement/ wellness retreat service modules. Over a 12-month period, the Health Center developed and successfully launched new residential wellness programs aimed at attracting broader regional and national audiences. Specific results included expanded revenue streams, increased staff utilization, improved margin return and strong recognition of St. Helena as a competitive wellness institution for both corporate and individual needs.
