Functioning as CIO installed new information systems to drive down operating expenses by 45%
After previously failed attempts at creating management information system solutions, this manufacturer of action sports products requested The Browning Group to conduct a through MIS audit. Findings revealed that design and software system flaws were causing serious data integrity problems and that most functional areas of the company no longer were using the system to perform routine jobs. Departments were unable to capture data thus requiring staff to develop time consuming manual solutions to support "mission critical" activity. With a Browning Group director as acting CIO, a new inventory and warehouse management system was installed, linked to a new accounting, order entry, cost management and customer/distribution management system. The Browning Group quickly introduced new procedures, initiated corporate wide training and initiated the replacement of systems and infrastructure to meet future business needs. The MIS redesign added superior performance features and reduced operating expense by 45%. Importantly, throughout the process, NHS was able to fund new technology and infrastructure from the cost savings and performance enhancements gained during the process.
